ShopRite to open retail pharmacy in Doylestown Hospital
The Cowhey Family Supermarket will open a retail pharmacy in Doylestown Hospital late this spring, becoming the first ShopRite pharmacy to be opened in a Pennsylvania hospital.
The full-service pharmacy will be situated centrally off the hospital's North Lobby and will be open seven days a week.
"We are looking forward to working with the hospital to make access to medications and medical supplies convenient for all patients," said Joe Cowhey, president of the Cowhey Family Supermarket in Warminster. "We will explore new ways of delivering service, such as bringing medications to a patient's bedside before discharge from the hospital or Emergency Department so the patient can return home without a detour to a pharmacy."
The ShopRite pharmacy at Doylestown Hospital will also carry over-the-counter medications and related supplies. Patients treated by physicians in the medical office building connected to the hospital can also have prescriptions filled before leaving the hospital campus.
"Doylestown Hospital enjoys a mutually-beneficial relationship with the Cowhey Family Supermarket that helps both customers and patients through Health Connections, the hospital’s outreach facility located just inside the main entrance to the supermarket," said Scott S. Levy, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Doylestown Hospital. "The addition of the retail pharmacy on the hospital campus builds on a partnership that is founded on excellence in service."
"We are committed to following the high quality standards that Doylestown Hospital sets for patient care," Cowhey added. The pharmacy is tentatively set to open on June 1. The Cowhey Family Supermarket and Health Connections is located at 942 West Street Road, Warminster.
