March for Babies 2015 Bucks County
CEO Jim Brexler co-chairs April 26 event
Doylestown Health is proud to sponsor the March of Dimes March for Babies 2015 – Bucks County walk to raise awareness and funds to
prevent preterm birth and birth defects. The event takes place on Sunday, April 26 at Bucks County Community College's Newtown Campus. Following the walk,
local families who gave birth at Doylestown Hospital are invited to a special family reunion.
"I am honored to work with the March of Dimes and support their efforts for stronger, healthier babies,” said Jim Brexler, President and CEO of Doylestown
Health. Brexler is the father of preemie twins and co-chair of this year’s March for Babies in Bucks County. "We are especially excited to welcome back
families who had their start in the VIA Maternity Center. Some of these babies have had to overcome major difficulties at the beginning of their lives. We
are looking forward to seeing them now as healthy, happy children."
Premature birth is the leading cause of newborn death. One in nine babies in Pennsylvania is born premature.
Doylestown Health's VIA Maternity Center includes a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery, which is staffed by neonatologists from CHOP Newborn Care and
specially trained neonatal nurses. Each year, more than 150 newborns spend anywhere from one day to one month in the NICU. Many of them are premature,
while some have respiratory or other difficulties.
Doylestown Health’s Team Baby Steps, a group of associates and their families, will once again walk in the March for Babies. Registration starts at 8 am
