Doylestown Hospital Among Top 100 Hospitals With Great Heart Programs in the Nation
DOYLESTOWN (Sept. 23, 2016) – Doylestown Hospital was named among the "100 hospitals and health systems with great heart programs" by Becker's Hospital Review in its 2016 edition of the list.
Doylestown Hospital joins other nationally-recognized institutions on the list such as the Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins. The flagship of the Doylestown Health system, Doylestown Hospital previously was named to the list in 2013
According to Becker's, the hospitals on the list "are national leaders when it comes to multiple aspects of cardiovascular care. They have received recognition for clinical excellence for certain procedures such as heart bypass and valve surgeries, and treatment of heart failure and heart attack patients. Through their comprehensive programs, they also support heart education and disease prevention efforts."
"Doylestown Health's Richard A. Reif Heart Institute continues to perform at a level rarely seen by community hospitals due to the skills and dedication of the clinical staff and long-term investment in cardiovascular services," said Scott Levy, MD, chief Medical Officer for Doylestown Health. "The program is built on excellence, one patient at a time, and it is rewarding to receive national recognition for the work we do every day."
The editorial team at Becker's examined several ranking and award agencies to develop its list of the top 100 cardiovascular hospitals including U.S. News & World Report rankings for cardiology and heart surgery, Truven Health Analytics' cardiovascular hospital rankings, CareChex, Blue Distinction Centers for Cardiac Care, star ratings from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and Healthgrades. Truven, formerly Thomson-Reuters, named Doylestown Hospital to its Top Cardiac and Top Hospitals lists in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
"Our cardiac program thrives on teamwork and a commitment to excellence," said Eleanor Wilson, Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer and Executive Director of Doylestown Health's Heart Institute. "Team members throughout the hospital constantly work at improving the coordinated system of care and developing even better strategies to deliver the care as safely and efficiently as possible. The result of these sustained efforts are outcomes that we're proud of, and that place us among the top providers in the region, and in fact, the nation."
