Doylestown Health Opens First Urgent Care Center
Integrated care offered along with convenience
DOYLESTOWN – Doylestown Health announced the opening of its first urgent care center, Doylestown Health Urgent Care, in Doylestown, Pa. The center is located near the intersection of Route 313 (Swamp Road) and Route 611 in the area known as Cross Keys. A ribbon-cutting event took place on September 18 and the center opens on September 19.
The medical team includes board-certified Doylestown Health physicians and support staff led by Medical Director Donald P. Talenti, MD, who is board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics. Prior to joining Doylestown Health, Dr. Talenti served as the Medical Director of the Emergency Department of Penn State Hershey/Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Doylestown Health Urgent Care clinicians treat a full range of illnesses and injuries for adults and children, from allergies to broken bones to the flu. On-site testing and treatment includes common prescription medications; specified lab tests; sutures, and X-rays.
Doylestown Health Urgent Care is a convenient, cost-effective solution when a patient's primary care provider is unavailable or if the patient cannot wait for an appointment. Patients can walk in, call ahead for a visit or reserve an appointment online. Walk-in patients can receive a text when the provider is ready to see them.
"The goal is for patients to see physicians and healthcare providers from an organization they trust," says Jim Brexler, president and CEO of Doylestown Health. "What is special about this Urgent Care is that it is a part of the larger Doylestown Health system. Patients can be quickly and effectively treated in Urgent Care after physician office hours or for cases that don't require the level of care provided in the emergency room."
Urgent Care staff can access a patient's Doylestown Health medical records and document the urgent care visit for follow-up if necessary. Urgent Care staff communicates with a patient's Doylestown Health physician for seamless continuity of care. Patients who don't have a primary care provider will be referred to an appropriate Doylestown Health physician, and have access to more than 435 Doylestown Health Medical staff members in over 50 specialties.
"Reducing the fragmentation of care and improving the continuity of care are important considerations for patients when they seek healthcare services," said Scott Levy, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Doylestown Health. "The model for our urgent care services supports better communication among providers and improved outcomes and efficiencies for patients."
The newly renovated facility features five exam/procedure rooms, on-site lab, X-ray and pharmacy. The beautiful décor is designed to be patient-centric providing a welcoming and comfortable environment.
Doylestown Health Urgent Care is open seven days a week, 365 days a year. Hours are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
