All Safe Despite Damage Throughout Hospital Campus
Press Releases |
High winds caused extensive damage throughout the hospital campus late this morning. No serious injuries were reported. Of major concern was Children’s Village, where portions of the roof were damaged. All children and teachers were moved to safety in the radiation vault on the first floor of the Cancer Institute in the Pavilion. They were later transported to Lenape Middle School to be reunited with their families. Four children were treated for minor injuries and released. Several staff members also had minor injuries.
The infusion center and lobby of the Cancer Institute experienced damage, as did the roof and windows of the Pavilion where physician offices are located. We are currently assessing damage and clean-up operations are underway throughout the campus.
The ED, operating rooms and patients room remain in service. Bucks County EMS placed us on divert at the outset, but we quickly went off diversion.
We expect the storm will disrupt some outpatient services. We continue to assess structural damage. A half-dozen vehicles or more were damaged in the parking lots on campus.
We thank the emergency responders from throughout the community who were on campus immediately to provide assistance.
