Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a serious public health crisis that has captured the world's attention. While the community has been encouraged to remain home to help slow the spread of the pandemic, it's important that you seek care if you need it. Even during this unprecedented time, you should never delay necessary healthcare, especially in the event of an emergency.

"I'm really proud of Doylestown Hospital's response to the coronavirus, and inspired by the healthcare workers on the front lines," says Doylestown Hospital Emergency Department physician Thomas DiEnna, DO. "What worries me are the patients who are reluctant to seek medical care because they are fearful of going to a hospital during the pandemic."

The health and safety of all Doylestown Hospital patients, associates and medical staff is of utmost importance to us. We are closely following guidance from the CDC to limit exposure and quickly identify patients who may be at risk of coronavirus. Learn more about measures Doylestown Health is taking to keep our community safe.

"The Emergency Department is fully staffed and ready – as always – to treat all emergent conditions, day and night," assures Dr. DiEnna. "It is especially necessary for those with heart attack or stroke symptoms to seek medical care immediately. Do not delay! Inaction can worsen the outcome for heart attack and stroke patients."

If you have heart attack or stroke symptoms, call 9-1-1. Do not drive yourself to the hospital. Ambulances are equipped to send critical information to the Emergency Department before you arrive to expedite care and improve outcomes. Even during this public health emergency, "we have great relationships with ambulance services that help expedite hospital care even before the patient arrives. We are ready to act at all times in your best interests," emphasizes Dr. DiEnna.
