Donor Reception

Two years after groundbreaking and supported by nearly $60 million in donations and pledges as part of the $75 million Doylestown Health ONE VISION campaign, donors previewed the 100,000-square-foot Cardiovascular and Critical Care Pavilion on the flagship Doylestown Hospital campus.

The invitation-only event for contributors to the ONE VISION campaign on Sept. 25 offered tours of the new wing of the hospital, including:

  • The three-story Gorsky Atrium, the building's dramatic entranceway, which will feature a heart-healthy café
  • The Woodall Center for Heart and Vascular Care, which will house the Della Penna CVICU/IVU and its 28 universal private rooms, a state-of-the-art endovascular hybrid operating suite and 20 private bays for pre-procedural care and post-procedural recovery
  • The Clark Center for Critical Care Medicine, featuring 32 specialized and private intensive care/intermediate care patient rooms
  • The Fred Beans Family Waiting Area, which offers flexible seating arrangements for families and visitors
  • The Marshall Monumental Staircase encouraging exercise and quick access to all three floors

The second floor of the new building, housing the Woodall Center for Heart and Vascular Care, will open early in 2020. The Clark Center for Critical Care Medicine, on the third floor, will open later in 2020.

Among those participating in the preview receptions were the eponymous Richard and Angela Clark, chairs of ONE VISION: The Campaign for Doylestown Health, and Alex and Pat Gorsky, honorary chairs. Mr. Clark is the retired Chairman and CEO of Merck & Co.; Mr. Gorsky is President and CEO of Johnson & Johnson.

"Pat and I are dedicated to health and well-being in our personal and professional lives," said Mr. Gorsky. "We are proud to be a part of this campaign, and thank all donors, large and small, for supporting the good work and vision of Doylestown Health, and for making world-class health care accessible right here. I've been to hospitals all over the world, and there's nowhere else in the world where you can get better care than at Doylestown Hospital."

"Tonight's preview is just a glimpse of what is to come," echoed Mr. Clark. "It gives Angie and me great comfort to know that our grandchildren and future generations will be able to rely on the experts here."

Several hundred donors toured the facility to see how new configurations of clinical stations were designed to reduce ambient noise and promote healing. Also on the tour were private patient rooms that are large enough for loved ones to gather, and light-filled respite rooms for visitors and families.

"Doylestown Health is transforming the delivery of health care and improving the wellness of our community through the generous investments of donors and strategic planning that impacts every aspect of our nationally-recognized health system," said Jim Brexler, President and CEO.

Two other new Doylestown Health construction projects are nearing completion: The second phase of a new community center at Pine Run Retirement Community, housing an indoor pool, auditorium and fitness center, opens in October. The Ambulatory Center on the health system's flagship hospital campus, with its same-day surgery center, orthopedic offices and rehabilitation facilities, will be finished in Spring 2020.

The Winter 2020 opening of the Woodall Center for Heart and Vascular Care is a significant part of Doylestown Health's transformation, according to Joseph Auteri, M.D., Medical Director of the newly-named Woodall Center.

"With the opening of this new building, our facility will match the incredible work we are doing and the level of care that is truly unique for a hospital of our size," said Dr. Auteri. He went on to cite a few of Doylestown Health's national recognitions, including its listing among the nation's 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by IBM Watson Health.
