Bike Race 2018

Doylestown Health was proud to sponsor the Professional Women's Race at the 2018 Thompson Bucks County Classic for the fifth consecutive year. The race, which took place on Sunday, September 9 in Doylestown, showcased talented riders from around the globe.

The rain didn't dampen the spirit of competition as a determined field of women riders made their way around the course through the borough.

Lily Williams from North Carolina took home the first-place jersey presented by Doylestown Health President and CEO Jim Brexler. Australia's Rebecca Wiasak came in second followed by third-place finisher Samantha Schneider of Wisconsin.

Joyce Hanson, president of the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown (VIA), started the race with comments about the VIA's founding of Doylestown Hospital in 1923. The women's civic organization continues to participate in the governance of the health system.

The women's race has a national status, and the racers competed for a $12,000 prize list, equal to that of the Pro Men.

In addition to the Professional Men's Race, Sunday's events also included the Amateur Men's Race, children's races, the Cyclosportif and the Brompton Burst.
