Doylestown Hospital Earns ACR Accreditation
Press Releases |
DOYLESTOWN – The American College of Radiology (ACR) recently awarded Doylestown Hospital a three-year term of accreditation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the result of a recent review. MRIis a noninvasive medical test that utilizes magnetic fields to produce anatomical images of internal body parts to help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. The designation includes MRI of the whole body and all its parts.
The ACR accreditation applies to Doylestown Hospital's 3T MRI with Ambient Experience. The new 3T MRI with Ambient Experience combines the most advanced MRI technology available with enhanced features designed for patient comfort. Doylestown Hospital physicians began using the new 3T MRI in early 2014. The ACR recently awarded the 3T MRI a three-year term of accreditation in breast MRI, a separate designation that further indicates the quality of the program.
Doylestown Health offers MRI services in three locations: the ArtWalk at Doylestown Hospital, the Pavilion at Doylestown Hospital and the Health & Wellness Center in Warrington. All of these MRI scanners are accredited by the ACR.
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.
The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 36,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
