DOYLESTOWN – Doylestown Hospital continues to earn national recognition for quality and patient safety in the delivery of stroke and cardiovascular care, including four awards from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
Doylestown Hospital recently received the following through the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Get With The Guidelines® program:
- Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award with Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite
- Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award with Target: Heart FailureSM Honor Roll
- Resuscitation Gold Award (Adult)
Doylestown Hospital received the following award for treatment of heart attack as part of the American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline® program:
- Gold Receiving Quality Achievement Award
"These awards are the result of our uncompromising commitment to excellence by our team of physicians, nurses and technicians who make every effort to provide the fastest and safest care for our patients," said Scott Levy, MD, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Doylestown Health. "These guidelines require precision and coordination of the stroke, cardiovascular and emergency department staff to deliver timely care and improved outcomes for our patients."
For the sixth consecutive year, the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association recognized Doylestown Hospital with the Stroke Gold Plus Award for the hospital's commitment to providing the most appropriate stroke treatment according to evidence-based guidelines.
Doylestown Hospital also earned the Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite award for reducing the time between the patient's arrival at the hospital and treatment with the clot-buster tissue plasminogen activator, or tPA. Process improvements, including collaboration with local Emergency Medical Services, ensure patients receive the care they need quickly and efficiently. With the help of EMS, the Emergency Department receives advance notice of a potential stroke victim before arrival at the hospital that sets protocols in motion.
Doylestown Hospital is recognized with the Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award for the fifth consecutive year. Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure is a quality improvement program that helps hospital teams follow the most up-to-date, research-based standards with the goal of speeding recovery and reducing hospital readmissions for heart failure patients.
In addition, Doylestown Hospital received the Get With The Guidelines®-Resuscitation Gold Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of adult patients who suffer cardiac arrest in the hospital. By continuing to follow best practices, Doylestown Hospital elevated the level of recognition from last year's silver award.
For the second year in a row, Doylestown Hospital received honors for treatment of heart attack. They include the Mission: Lifeline® Gold Receiving Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks. The program's goal is to reduce system barriers to prompt treatment for heart attacks, beginning with the 9-1-1 call and continuing through hospital treatment. The national standard for treating heart attack patients with balloon angioplasty to restore blood flow to a blocked artery is within 90 minutes of arrival at the hospital door (door-to-balloon time). Doylestown Hospital beats this standard over 90% of the time and meets an aggressive 60-minute D2BT about 60% of the time.
