Doylestown Hospital named ‘Top Hospital’

Press Releases |

DOYLESTOWN – Doylestown Hospital was awarded the 2016 Top Hospital Award from The Leapfrog Group in a Washington, D.C. ceremony on Dec. 6. The award recognizes the hospital's commitment to patient safety and quality. Doylestown Hospital was one of only 56 general acute hospitals in the nation to receive this award.

The Leapfrog Top Hospital Award is widely acknowledged as one of the most prestigious distinctions a hospital can receive. The selection of Top Hospitals is based on a survey of performance conducted by The Leapfrog Group. Approximately 1,800 hospitals participated in the survey. Clinical outcomes across all areas of hospital care are considered in determining recipients of the award, including the organization's commitment to evidence-based best practices for care quality and patient safety.

The Leapfrog Group was initially formed by large employers and insurers that purchase healthcare services for beneficiaries in order to evaluate the quality and value of services graded on customer experience and satisfaction.

"This recognition is made possible through a culture of teamwork and a relentless pursuit of excellence," said Jim Brexler, president and CEO of Doylestown Health. "Our selection as one of the very few top hospitals in the country illustrates the depth of dedication by Associates, Medical Staff, Volunteers and Board Members to deliver high quality care every day. The Leapfrog Group's Top Hospital Award is an affirmation of our commitment to excellence."

"Being acknowledged as a Top Hospital is an incredible feat achieved by less than three percent of hospitals nationwide," said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. "With this honor, Doylestown Hospital has established its commitment to safer and higher quality care. Providing this level of care to patients in the Doylestown community requires motivation and drive from every team member. I congratulate the board, staff and clinicians, whose efforts made this honor possible."
