As a primary care physician, Richard Gaibler, DO sees a wide variety of patients from birth through the end-of-life at Doylestown Health Primary Care in Chalfont. For him, getting to know his patients and watching them grow is one of the best parts of practicing medicine. He's seen generations of patients from the same families.
The steadfast focus on patients is the hallmark of his 30-year career, despite all the changes in medicine around him.
"We've been able to keep it mostly the same," said Dr. Gaibler, "and a lot of that is due to the patients."
For his devotion to patient-centered care, Dr. Gaibler received the Pennsylvania Medical Society's July Everyday Hero Award.
"Dr. Gaibler cares so deeply for his patients that when you come for your visit you have his undivided attention," notes Donna Kittredge, the office manager for his office.
Dr. Gaibler is the first recipient from Bucks County to win the award. He was selected from a statewide pool of nominations.
The Pennsylvania Medical Society's Everyday Hero Award is designed to showcase talented physicians who probably don't view themselves as heroes, but to patients and colleagues they are.
"It is quite humbling," said Dr. Gaibler, who received the award at a ceremony in his Chalfont office on July 17.
