While onsite classes and events are postponed, Doylestown Health remains committed to bringing quality education to the community. Listen ONLINE to Doylestown Health certified health education specialists and nutritionists, local mental health professionals and other select local professionals as they present important subject matter.

Doylestown Health is pleased to offer several virtual classes in July on a wide range of interesting topics. There's something for everyone! Learn from the comfort of your on home. Classes are FREE but registration is required.

Tuesday, July 7, 2020 – 4 to 5 pm

Join us for a special presentation by Lorna Jansen, PsyD, and Jason Tanenbaum, PsyD, from The Center for Neuropsychology & Counseling. Topics of discussion will include:

  • The various types of families and ways to foster wellness as a parent
  • How to engage in collaborative parenting with one's partner or other caregivers
  • The disruptions and opportunities caused by times of transition, including the current health crisis

Kids Cooking Club (via Zoom)

Thursday, July 9, 2020 – 11 am to 12 pm

During these challenging times, chances are that you and members of your family have broken out the flour and baked some delicious treats. Keep the ball rolling! Encourage your child to take ownership of their health and at the same time, learn to make some satisfying and healthy snacks. This free nutrition education is offered by a registered dietitian/nutritionist in a live Zoom class. Join us to learn and discuss simple food preparation. Registration is recommended by June 29 so you can collect the food supplies you will need if you want to follow along with the RD! You will receive an email before the event on what supplies will be helpful. Recommended ages: 8-12

Tackling Addiction: The Role We Play (via Go To Meeting)

Saturday, July 11, 2020 – 10 to 11:30 am

COVID-19 has brought a halt to everything except mental health and addiction. In fact, the current public health crisis has put the spotlight on the need for increasing mental health and addiction services and resources. As Doylestown Health remains committed to breaking down barriers of addiction through the pandemic, we are delivering a special 1.5-hour "Tackling Addiction" event directly to you in your home! Join expert speakers as they highlight family roles in addiction, share personal stories behind the opioid crisis, and ultimately, share invaluable information guiding attendees to reach the light at the end of the tunnel. Attendees will leave feeling fully supported with resources in-hand and with a new lens around the disease of addiction prepared to help loved ones and our community at large.

Sit up Straight! Posture and Lifting Education (via Go To Meeting)

Monday July 13, 2020 – Noon to 1 pm

Physical therapist Lauren Direso, DPT, will discuss proper work place set up and sitting posture. She will also review proper bending and lifting to help reduce the risk of injury to the spine.

Wednesday, July 22, 2020 – 6 to 7:00 pm

A Doylestown Health nutrition expert will discuss healthy eating during pregnancy. Topics include how food choices can impact the health of mother and baby, how to read nutrition labels, incorporate whole foods into your diet, important nutrients for pregnancy and breastfeeding, and more.

One in five Americans are diagnosed with arthritis. While there are no cures for arthritis, there are treatments that can help. Learn nutrition strategies to better manage your pain, find out what foods can trigger inflammation and what foods may reduce it.
