Be among the first to check out the "Hospital" by Doylestown Health, a new educational exhibit at the Bucks County Children's Museum opening on May 30. The interactive exhibit teaches kids about health care, medical professions and the human body.
Kids usually don't love going to the doctor, but that's probably because they're afraid of the unknown.
A new exhibit sponsored by Doylestown Health at the Bucks County Children's Museum in New Hope teaches kids about health care in a fun, interactive way. The "Hospital" by Doylestown Health will offer children and families the opportunity to experience a doctor's "visit," explore an ambulance and learn about the hospital experience.
The grand opening family event for the exhibit is Saturday, May 30.
"The Bucks County Children's Museum does a wonderful job in explaining things to our children in an educational, yet fun way.We think this new exhibit can help our kids understand what a hospital is like," said Jason M. Komasz, MD, lead pediatric hospitalist of The Della Penna Pediatric Center. "We hope to make it a bit less intimidating should they ever need to go to the hospital."
Through play with "kid-sized" interactive features, children will learn about the parts of the body, different medical professions, and equipment and procedures used in a hospital. This new attraction will feature an examination room complete with X-rays and heart monitor, life-sized operation game table, as well as a kid-sized ambulance.
"The partnership with the children's museum represents what Doylestown Health is all about — making health care accessible and relevant to all members of our community, including the very young," said Doylestown Health CEO Jim Brexler. "This new exhibit will introduce the hospital and medical care to children in a way they can understand and grasp – literally – so if they ever do need our services, they have a positive point of reference, which can be very comforting."
