Doylestown Health in the Community – November 2016

Tuesday, Dec 20, 2016

Doylestown Health is committed to keeping our community healthy through education and outreach. Here is a recap of our efforts in the community this past month:

Don't Ignore the Snore! Sleep Apnea Risks and Treatment - Coffee Talk Series

Sleep specialist Les Szekely, MD, discussed the harmful risk factors associated with sleep apnea – a common disorder that can disrupt your breathing while you sleep – and preventative treatment options that help manage symptoms, and promote a better night's sleep.

Walk With A Doc Attendees Learn About Exercising with a Breathing Problem

Manuel Jimenez-Serrano, MD, led November's Walk With a Doc, where he gave a brief discussion on the benefits walking can have for those with breathing problems, including COPD. After the talk, attendees enjoyed a refreshing walk with Doylestown Health clinicians around the hospital campus.

Children Treat and Triage at Annual Teddy Bear Clinic

Children had a "bear-y" good time treating their best (stuffed) friend at the Annual Teddy Bear Clinic. An interactive experience utilizing medical play, children experienced a doctor's visit without fear. Teddy bears were triaged and treated in this enjoyable event held at the Bucks County Children's Museum!

Giggle, Squiggle, and Play

Doylestown Health pediatric healthcare professionals participated in Horsham Library's program, "Giggle, Squiggle, and Play." Healthcare professionals interacted with parents, and shared expertise in different areas of child development and education. Play, conversation, and distribution of materials are hallmarks of this educational event designed for parents and their children, ages 12 to 36 months.

Community Health Discussions Coming to a TV Near You

Health Matters with Doylestown Health is a collaboration between the Central Bucks High School TV club and Doylestown Health. Students use their video production skills to bring the messages of CB Cares to CBTV. Co-hosted by a student and Doylestown Health's pediatric outreach manager, the series highlights important health issues that are relevant to students and parents in the Central Bucks school district. November's segment focused on illegal drugs. Watch video here.

Fred Beans Health Fair

Doylestown Health's Wellness Team and Fred Beans teamed up with local businesses to offer an on-site health fair for employees interested in learning tips to improve their lifestyle.

Lenape Valley Foundation Benefits Fair

Doylestown Health joined Lenape Valley Foundation for their annual benefits fair to discuss the importance of health and wellness.
