How to Slow Down Your Family's Schedule
This free speaker series is presented by Doylestown Health, CB Cares Educational Foundation, Central Bucks School District and the Central Bucks Family YMCA.
Feeling overscheduled? Many families today struggle to balance spending time together with commitments to work, school, and after-school sports and activities. Busy schedules can lead to health issues for the whole family, like sleep deprivation, stress and overeating.
To encourage a lifetime of healthy habits, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that families take the following steps:
- Eat breakfast every day
- Eat low-fat dairy products like yogurt, milk, and cheese and foods rich in calcium
- Engage in an hour of physical activity every day
- Limit screen time (TV, computer, video games) to two hours or less per day
- Limit fast food and take-out food
- Eat high-fiber foods
