Doylestown Health is committed to keeping our community healthy through education and outreach. Here is a recap of our efforts in the community this past month:
Butler Elementary Family Fun and Fitness Night
Students and family members who attended the Butler Elementary Family Fun and Fitness Night learned the benefits of proper handwashing skills to stay healthy! Children learned how to scrub-a-dub-dub away germs, test their handwashing skills through our "germ simulator," and "play" their way to clean hands through songs, interactive games and a craft worthy of a healthy high-five.
Celebrating Our Differences
As part of the Parent Positive series, the Central Bucks Family YMCA hosted "Building a Community of Kindness: Discovering Our Common Ground,” which featured keynote speaker Chelsea White, a comedian, TV producer, and vice-chair of the NYC Chapter of Tourette Association of America. White not only shared her experience, but challenged the audience to embrace and celebrate their own differences and quirks. Following the presentation was a Q&A session with a panel including White, Jess Greaser, mother and psychology and family counselor, and Jill Schweizer, Central Bucks School District special education supervisor, offering parents various perspectives and opportunities to discuss this concept in depth.
Spring Into Safety
Doylestown Health's certified car seat technicians were on-hand to check car seats and educate on proper installation and selection of car seat. As an official SafeKids site, all spots were filled and 16 car seats were checked. Car seat checks will continue to be offered at Doylestown Health, helping children in our community to be safe!
Paving the Way for the Future
Doylestown Health's pediatric outreach manager, Ashley Heidler, BSN, RN, CPN, provided a presentation to Central Bucks South High School's Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Club on the career field of nursing, and discussed the incredible amount of roles and opportunities the nursing field offers, inspiring teens in their future career choices.
