President's Perspective: Resolutions and Solutions
A new year does not necessarily require resolutions to make things better as an individual, community or organization. Sometimes, previous resolutions are good and a work in progress, and all we really need are solutions to achieve them.
Doylestown Health strives to continually improve the quality of life and advocate for the health and wellbeing of everyone in our communities. Our resolve to deliver on that mission statement was greatly rewarded at the end of 2017, when Doylestown Health was recognized for exceptional healthcare quality on two occasions.
Doylestown Hospital was named among the top 45 general acute hospitals in the nation – the second consecutive year we were named a "Top Hospital" by The Leapfrog Group. The designation is especially notable because Leapfrog, an independent watchdog organization, considers quality measures that are significant to both purchasers and consumers of health care.
Soon after, Medicare awarded Doylestown Hospital the highest five-star rating for overall quality, placing us among the top 11 percent of hospitals in the U.S. The star rating summarizes performance in 57 quality measures. While some measures are based on care delivered to Medicare patients, many quality measures are related to mortality, readmissions, complications and patient experience for all hospital patients.
We resolve to continue our pursuit of excellence for the benefit of our patients and communities in 2018. That resolution includes the ongoing transformation of our services and facilities, both on our campuses and in the community. You already know the solutions to the inevitable curves that life throws at our resolutions. They can be found in the dedication of the Associates, Physicians, Volunteers and Board who work tirelessly for excellence – and you.
