Cardiothoracic surgeon Joseph Auteri, MD, FACS, grew up in Bucks County and attended Central Bucks East High School where he first honed his leadership skills as quarterback of the Patriot football team. He went on to Harvard University and then to Thomas Jefferson Medical School before completing post-graduate training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.
Following a brief tenure on staff in the division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, Dr. Auteri moved to Phoenix to join the staff of the Arizona Heart Institute, where he practiced from 1994-1999. In 1999, Dr. Auteri served as medical director of the Scottsdale Heart Center, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Then in 2005, Dr. Auteri relocated to Portsmouth, Virginia to become medical director of the Bon Secours Heart Institute, an affiliate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. In May 2007, Dr. Auteri was appointed medical director of Doylestown Health’s Heart Institute in Doylestown, PA.
Dr. Auteri's more than 25 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery combined with his extraordinary leadership skills help him guide one of the Delaware Valley's fastest growing and highest quality cardiac programs.
