Steven Pierson, MD performs a wide variety of general surgical procedures, including laparoscopic colon surgery, hernia repairs and gall bladder surgery. In addition, he has a special interest in the surgical treatment of arterial and venous disease, having completed a certified fellowship in vascular surgery.
Dr. Pierson performs minimally invasive stent repairs of abdominal aortic aneurysms as well as more complicated bypass surgery to restore flow to the legs, and carotid surgery to prevent strokes. He performs a variety of minimally invasive venous procedures, including radiofrequency catheter occlusion of superficial varicose veins, often preventing the need for more extensive vein stripping.
A large part of his practice is devoted to the treatment of benign and malignant breast disease, incorporating minimally invasive ultrasound-guided cyst aspiration and needle biopsy techniques in his office practice. Dr. Pierson is an advocate for breast-preserving treatment of breast cancer and less invasive techniques for axillary lymph node sampling, working in concert with the medical and radiation oncologists at Doylestown Hospital.
Dr. Pierson is board certified in general surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Society of Breast Surgeons since 1996, and has served on numerous committees at Doylestown Hospital, including Director of the Department of Surgery.
