Vascular Surgery Program

Doylestown Health's Vascular Surgery program features fellowship-trained vascular surgeons who offer a personalized approach to care with high-level expertise, advanced treatment options and high-tech facilities competing with the most technologically advanced hospitals in the tri-state area. Vascular surgeons diagnose and treat conditions of the arterial, venous and lymphatic systems.


Symptoms vary, depending on your condition. Symptoms for common vascular conditions include:

  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)

    • Sometimes, no symptoms and AAA is discovered during evaluation for another issue
    • Abdominal or back pain that is sudden and severe (seek emergency care)
    • Pain, sores and skin color changes in feet and toes
  • Carotid Artery Disease

    • Sometimes, no symptoms and carotid artery disease is discovered during evaluation for another issue
    • Feeling weak or numb on one side of the body, face drooping on one side, slurring words (signs of possible stroke)
    • Rarely, ringing in the ears or fainting
  • Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)

    • Cramping/pain with exercise that continues even after you stop
    • Pale or changing coloring in the legs
    • Thin, shiny skin
    • Hair loss on legs and feet
    • Lower leg or foot feels colder than your other leg
    • Sores on legs, feet or toes that don't heal
    • Weakness or numbness in legs
    • People often exhibit no symptoms until PAD is more advanced

Procedures Performed

As part of the vascular surgery team, Drs. Rao, Eisenberg, Lotto and Foley offers the full spectrum of open, endovascular and hybrid procedures to treat vascular disease. Procedures include:

  • Carotid endarterectomy
  • Carotid stenting
  • Subclavian artery stenting and bypass
  • Dialysis access procedures (creation and maintenance)
  • Open and endovascular aortic aneurysm repair
  • Mesenteric artery stenting and bypass
  • Lower extremity arterial stenting and bypass
  • First rib resection for thoracic outlet syndrome
  • Thoracic aortic stent grafting
  • Fenestrated aortic stent grafting
