Hand Therapy After Xiaflex™ Injection

Dupuytren’s contracture causes an abnormal thickening of tissue from excess collagen beneath the skin in the palm of the hand. Over time, this thickened tissue causes fingers to bend toward the palm, decreasing your range of motion and limiting hand function.

You may be a candidate for hand therapy after Xiaflex™ injection if your Dupuytren’s contracture has caused a palpable “cord” in the palm of your hand that can be felt, and your physician has decided to treat your condition with Xiaflex™ injection, a nonsurgical, alternative treatment option.

Benefits of Hand Therapy After Xiaflex™ Injection

  • Improved finger extension
  • Management of post-injection pain and edema (swelling)

About Our Program

Our certified hand therapists (CHTs) have completed specialized training to treat hand and upper extremity conditions, including Dupuytren’s contracture. We work with physicians to coordinate a personalized plan for each patient to help them achieve the best outcome after this procedure.

Our program includes:

  • Custom splinting
  • Range of motion exercises
  • Serial adjustment of splint to allow for changes in edema, tissue length, and patient tolerance.

We constantly monitor each patient’s condition and progression of treatment to ensure that we are achieving the best functional outcome.
