DOYLESTOWN – Two couples who have already made a significant impact in the international corporate and philanthropic worlds will help lead the most ambitious and comprehensive fundraising campaign in the history of Doylestown Health. Richard T. and Angela Clark will serve as campaign chairs of Doylestown Health's upcoming comprehensive campaign, in partnership with honorary chairs, Alex and Patricia Gorsky.
Long-time supporters of Doylestown Hospital, Dick and Angela Clark have been Doylestown residents for more than 37 years. With two daughters, three grandchildren, and an extensive network of family, friends, and colleagues from Merck where Dick served as CEO from 2005 until his retirement in 2011, the Clarks are eager to lead a collaborative effort to give back to the hospital that has been a reliable source of care for them over the last four decades.
"The opportunity to be involved in a volunteer leadership capacity in the campaign that will have a profound impact on the future of Doylestown Health as it prepares for its second century is truly humbling," the Clarks said. "We are excited and energized by the challenge and the opportunity ahead."
As campaign chairs, Dick and Angela Clark will play the key organizational and leadership roles in building and maintaining momentum during the comprehensive campaign, which will be publicly launched next spring. The Clarks will direct the strategy and overall efforts in support of Doylestown Health's comprehensive campaign. They will represent the hospital publicly, and play an active role in strengthening relationships that could yield both new and transformative gifts.
As chairman of the board of trustees at his alma mater, Washington & Jefferson College, Dick has extensive experience leading multi-million dollar fundraising campaigns. "Learning that Alex and Pat Gorsky were on board since the beginning of campaign planning, gave Angie and I the extra reassurance needed to fully commit our own leadership and personal support," said Dick.
Alex Gorsky, CEO of Johnson & Johnson since 2012, and past Doylestown Hospital Board member along with his wife Patricia Gorsky, who is a current Doylestown Hospital Board member and former nurse in the hospital's cardiac catheterization lab, have been stalwart supporters of Doylestown Health's top priorities. "The Gorskys' exemplary volunteerism, dedication and investment in Doylestown Health position them to help lead us into our second century of delivering superior clinical care with kindness and compassion," states Jim Brexler. "We are fortunate to have such distinguished, experienced and dedicated leaders to ignite our efforts in planning and executing the campaign."
"We are deeply grateful the Gorskys and the Clarks have agreed to serve as leaders of our upcoming campaign," stated Laura Wortman, Vice President and Chief Development Officer for Doylestown Health. "The impact of a successful philanthropic campaign will be most visible in the changing landscape of our physical campus – both at Doylestown Hospital and Pine Run Retirement Community – where we are building and renovating to support new opportunities for innovation and growth." With the patient and family experience at the forefront, Doylestown Health is committed to providing the highest quality and most advanced services and treatment therapies. "Establishing Doylestown Hospital in 1923, the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown (VIA) had a vision to create an independent hospital to benefit the community," said Board Chair, Doylestown Hospital and Doylestown Health Foundation, Joan Parlee. "As one of the few remaining independent healthcare systems in the country, we are proud of our rich history and look forward to our next century of delivering superior care to an increased number of people across the region."
The campaign quiet phase began on July 1, 2016, with a public launch projected for the spring 2018.
