Pricing Information

Price Transparency

We are committed to providing current and prospective patients pricing information for healthcare services so they can better understand their financial responsibility.

If you have health insurance, per the Health Care PRICE Transparency Act: Insurance plans must publish the in-network and out-of-network charges for covered items and services and the negotiated prices for covered prescription drugs. Plans must provide a tool for consumers to search for this cost information. Consumers also may request additional information about the costs of specific items or services under their plan.

If you are looking for self pay pricing, please use our price estimator tool:

You can also email our Financial Estimators at pmdh-pricetransparency@pennmedicine.upenn.edu  or call 215-918-5515.

Chargemaster Information

We are providing links to its list of "standard charges" for inpatient and outpatient services in compliance with CMS Rule 1694-F.

No-one pays these specific charges, including uninsured patients and those who pay their own costs out-of-pocket.

About CDM

In our opinion, the CDM itself does not provide the appropriate price transparency for the patient as a patient’s out-of-pocket cost is not determined by the standard charges of a hospital. The out-of-pocket cost is driven primarily by:

  • The contracted rate that the patient’s insurance carrier will pay the hospital which is generally much less than the standard charges; and
  • Any copay, deductible, or coinsurance required by the patient’s benefit plan.
  • If you wish to review the CDM, please understand the following:
  • The descriptions in the CDM may not be understandable to the layperson.
  • The total charge amount for many procedures is made up of many individual charge items from the CDM.
  • Charges related to inpatient room charges or observation status may be appropriate for a particular encounter.
  • While the pharmaceuticals are listed, the associated charge is not because the charge is dependent upon the dosage, which varies based on patient need.

View a quick video explanation on understanding the chargemaster from The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania.

The CDM information is not intended to replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Contact your health insurer to determine what your out-of-pocket costs are for services at Doylestown Hospital.
