New Hub will serve as the center of social life for active Villagers
DOYLESTOWN – Doylestown Health leaders and Pine Run Villagers celebrated the groundbreaking of Pine Run's new Hub community center on Tuesday, April 11 at Pine Run's Doylestown campus.
Construction will begin on the new 36,000-square-foot Hub, which will provide a central location to become the new "heart" of the Pine Run community. Tuesday's groundbreaking marked the beginning of several years of growth and expansion for Doylestown Health. Strategic planning is bearing fruit as the health system continues to grow and add services to meet the needs of the community.
After several ceremonial photos for the groundbreaking, the program continued inside the current community center, where Villagers and guests heard about plans and features of the new Hub, Pine Run's role in the community, and the vision of the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown, founders of Doylestown Hospital, which continues to inform the health and wellness activities of Doylestown Health.
Pine Run Groundbreaking
After Marge Dunkelberger, the Villager who has lived the longest at Pine Run (25 years), cut the cake, a champagne toast capped the program.
The new Hub will include versatile spaces known as "galleries" for "food, fitness and fun." In the first phase of construction, Villagers and their guests can choose from three indoor and two outdoor dining galleries overlooking the pond, as well as a café. The second phase will include the demolition of the current Hub and construction of a new, expanded fitness center with all new equipment, lots of space for classes and an indoor pool with a private changing area.
For the forever student, the new Hub will present plenty of spaces and opportunities to learn. The Keep on Learning program brings in experts to discuss history, music, nature and health. The center's new auditorium will host a variety of entertainment and a new location for the well attended Saturday evening movies.
