Doylestown Health Cancer Institute is pleased to welcome fellowship-trained gynecologic oncologists Tommy R. Buchanan Jr., MD, and Mark S. Shahin, MD, to its team of experts.
Highly skilled and experienced, Dr. Buchanan and Dr. Shahin offer comprehensive, high-level care for cancers of the female reproductive organs, combining leading-edge therapies with personalized care that considers the emotional aspects of cancer treatment. Using an evidence-based, patient-centered approach, they focus on finding the most effective treatment possible, presenting all options to help patients make informed decisions.
Our new Gynecologic Oncologists will collaborate with referring physicians and Doylestown Health Cancer Institute experts in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Pathology.
TOMMY R. BUCHANAN JR., MD
A fellowship-trained gynecologic oncologist, Dr. Buchanan is an expert in advanced robot-assisted and minimally invasive surgical techniques, complex open procedures, clinical trials and the treatment of all gynecologic cancers from a surgical and chemotherapy standpoint.
Earning his medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine, Dr. Buchanan completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia, and a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Washington University, St. Louis. He is board-eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Gynecologic Oncology.
MARK S. SHAHIN, MD
A dual fellowship-trained gynecologic oncologist with more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Shahin is an expert in advanced robot-assisted surgery and a national leader in clinical research.
Earning his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago, Dr. Shahin completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University. He completed fellowships in Gynecologic Surgery and Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Division of Gynecologic Oncology. He is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Gynecologic Oncology. He is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Sidney Kimmel College of Thomas Jefferson University and serves as a Principal Investigator for NRG Oncology and GOG partners.
