Doylestown Hospital was named one of the nation's 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by IBM Watson HealthTM. This is the second time Doylestown Hospital was recognized with this honor, now in its 20th year.
According to Chief Operating Officer Eleanor Wilson, who oversees the Richard Reif Heart Institute at Doylestown Hospital, the recognition of the program as one of the nation's 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals honors teamwork. "It is the meticulous attention to detail and evidence-based care throughout a patient's treatment and recovery that sets us apart. Everything we've learned and developed is being built in to our new Center for Heart and Vascular Care."
Doylestown Hospital is the only hospital in Pennsylvania and New Jersey to make the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals 2019 list.
"Patient outcomes for our heart and vascular services are among the best in the nation due to the skills and dedication of the clinical staff and long-term investment in cardiovascular services," said Jim Brexler, President and CEO of Doylestown Health. "The program is built on excellence, one patient at a time, and it is absolutely affirming to receive national recognition of this caliber for the quality work our team does every day."
According to IBM Watson Health, selection for the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals awards demonstrates that Doylestown Hospital outperformed peers on a balanced scorecard comprising objective metrics based on public data sources and transparent methodologies. Measures include inpatient and extended outcomes, clinical processes, efficiency and cost for the two most common cardiovascular conditions (heart attack and heart failure) and interventions (PCI - percutaneous coronary interventions such as angioplasties and CABG - coronary bypass surgery).
Doylestown Health is building on nearly 20 years of excellence with the planned opening of the new Center for Heart and Vascular Care on the Doylestown Hospital campus in Fall 2019. The new patient-centered, state-of-the-art facility will bring Doylestown Health's staff of cardiothoracic and endovascular surgeons, electrophysiologists, and interventional and medical cardiologists under one roof and meet the growing demand for advanced heart and vascular services in our community.
The approximately 100,000-square-foot building will have expanded treatment areas and 30 new private rooms. A new hybrid operating suite, renovated Cath and Electrophysiology labs and a central atrium to access all cardiovascular services are part of the design. The One Vision campaign, a $75 million public fundraising campaign, supports the Center for Heart and Vascular Care and other major capital projects that are transforming Doylestown Health.
