College Student Summer Volunteer Program

College Student Summer Volunteer Program

The application process for the College Student Summer Program 2021 will open on Monday, November 9 at 9 am. Students should contact the Volunteer Services Office at 215.345.2204 to request an application. There are limited openings in this program for Summer 2021. Though we are hopeful that the College Student Summer Program will be held next summer, changes or cancellation may be necessary due to COVID-19 challenges at that time. To be fair to all interested, we will only accept phone calls from the student applicant; phone calls from parents of adult children/students will not be accepted.

The College Student Summer Volunteer Program is a ten-week program starting in late May. It is supervised by Doylestown Health's director of Volunteer Services. Students are expected to make a full commitment to all phases of the program that will result in volunteer hours that can be reported for graduate schools. It is important to call quickly as only 30 applications are distributed. This program is limited to 25 students. Students are expected to take responsibility for the entire application process; calls from parents or other family members are not accepted.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in college classes with emphasis on the medical field.
  • Completed PA State Police Criminal Record Check, Fingerprinting and Child Abuse Clearances - not older than 1 year, MUST be submitted with application.
  • Vaccine Records, including Hepatitis B, must be submitted with application.

Program Description

The aim of the program is to give college students with a medical interest a first-hand hospital experience to acquaint them with a comprehensive healthcare setting. This program brings into focus the work and responsibility of the physicians and nurses in a modern hospital complex.

The applicant is expected to serve a minimum of 8 hours per week in existing volunteer services areas. Consistency and quality service are emphasized. The student must be committed to regular attendance.

For more information, the student applicant should call the Volunteer Office 215.345.2204.
