Orthopedic Rehabilitation

Orthopedic Rehabilitation

Doylestown Health offers comprehensive physical and occupational therapy services for patients with orthopedic conditions, or following joint replacement or orthopedic surgery. Our licensed therapists work closely with your doctor to ensure the smoothest recovery possible.

Candidates for Orthopedic Rehabilitation

Orthopedic rehabilitation can help patients recover from a variety of conditions including:

Joint Replacement Therapy

Rehabilitation is an important part of recovery after a joint replacement. Your rehabilitation begins as soon as your surgery ends. All patients are out of bed and cleared to begin rehabilitation within hours of surgery. For same day surgery, you will see a therapist prior to being discharged home. For patients that stay overnight, most are discharged the next day. You will start outpatient physical therapy within days of your surgery. The therapist will ensure that you are progressing as expected and guide you through the entire recovery process.

About Our Program

Our orthopedic team begins planning for your recovery as soon as your surgery is scheduled. The orthopedic navigator helps patients schedule any necessary pre- and post-operative appointments. Patients complete pre-operative education where they learn about their surgery, hospital stay and the rehabilitation process. Our therapists develop a personalized care plan to meet the needs of each patient.

Physical therapy provides patients with exercises to strengthen muscles, increase range of motion and regain mobility.

Occupational therapy helps patients return to activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, toilet and shower transfers, and homemaking activities.

Each patient is monitored throughout their care to ensure that the progression of treatment is enabling them to achieve the best functional outcome.
