Chief Executive Officer

James Brexler assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer of Doylestown Hospital in 2013. Prior to joining Doylestown Hospital, Mr. Brexler served as President and Chief Executive Officer (2004-2012) of Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Westminster College and his Master of Public Affairs from the North Carolina State University.  He currently serves as chair of the board of the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania and is on the board of the Regional Policy Board of the American Hospital Association.

Chief Human Resources Officer

Mr. Callahan joined Penn Medicine Doylestown Health in June 2025 and brings with him more than two decades of experience in healthcare and human resources. His connection to PMDH is a personal and longstanding one: his healthcare career began here at the age of 14 as a teen volunteer. After high school, he worked at Doylestown Hospital as an emergency department technician while attending college. Since then, he has held a variety of roles across the healthcare continuum, including in emergency care, long-term care, home care services, and human resources leadership. Prior to joining PMDH, Mr. Callahan served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital (PMCCH), where he made a meaningful impact, fostering a culture of collaboration, supporting staff well-being, and enhancing employee engagement. Prior to CCH, Mr. Callahan served in various roles – including Associate Chief Human Resources Officer at Penn Medicine Princeton Health for more than a decade. Mr. Callahan earned his Bachelor of Science in health services administration from Drexel University and a Master of Science in human resources management from West Chester University. He is also a licensed nursing home administrator, an emergency medical technician, and an adjunct instructor at Rosemont College.

Chief Operating Officer

Ms. Cole was appointed Chief Operating Officer at Penn Medicine Doylestown Health in May 2025 after serving several months on the Doylestown Health–Penn Medicine integration team. Ms. Cole brings more than two decades of leadership experience within Penn Medicine, serving on the leadership team at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) as Interim Chief Administrative Officer of the Penn Transplant Institute and previously as Associate Executive Director.  Prior to HUP, Ms. Cole spent nearly a decade on the senior leadership team at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC). In roles such as Associate Executive Director and Chief Patient Experience Officer, she led the service line expansions in Neurosciences, Surgery, Trauma, and Behavioral Health. She also oversaw ambulatory and ancillary services, capital projects, and key system partnerships. Ms. Cole is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She earned her Master of Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University and her Bachelor of Arts from Allegheny College. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Ms. Cole is an active member of the community. She currently serves as a Board Member of the Philadelphia American Heart Association (AHA) and is part of the Executive Leadership Team for the AHA’s Go Red for Women event and the STEM Goes Red program.

Vice President, Physician Services & Ambulatory Strategy

Matthew Costello has been devoted to Doylestown Health for almost a quarter century.  He has served in numerous leadership positions within the hospital, including: Director of Surgical and Ancillary Services, Senior Executive Director of Hospital Operations and now as Vice President of Physician Services and Ambulatory Strategy.  Prior to joining Doylestown Health, Matt worked as a Regional Director of Operations for Penn Medicine.  He started his career as a Medical Service Corps Officer in the United States Air Force, separating at the rank of Captain.  Matt was a four-year varsity track and cross-country student athlete at La Salle University where he studied Economics and Business Administration, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and earned a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Temple University’s Fox School of Business and was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. 

Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer          

MaryBeth Mitchell has extensive experience across the healthcare spectrum from providers to payers, in both for-profit and not-for-profit structure. Her combination of skills and insights across clinical and financial settings uniquely positioned her for her role as Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. Proven success in application of Lean Six Sigma Black Belt allowed her to successfully redesign workflow and output processes for inpatient and outpatient clinical programs. In her past roles, she has designed and implemented demonstration projects in value-based programs for population health and transition of care coordination with Medicare and private payers, with bundled payments, shared savings and disease-specific initiatives. MaryBeth is a recognized leader in change management and leading multidisciplinary teams to high levels of productivity.

Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer

Marla Pellegrini was promoted to the role of Chief Nursing Officer in 2023.  Ms. Pellegrini has nearly three decades of acute care hospital experience, including a decade in various leadership roles. Past roles have included: serving as nurse manager for the emergency department at Lankenau Hospital, director of critical care/ICU at Chestnut Hill Hospital and most recently Director of the Emergency Department at Doylestown Hospital. Over the course of her career, Ms. Pellegrini has earned significant clinical achievement and recognition. Recognized as Clinical Manager of the Year (Chestnut Hill Hospital), Nursing Excellence Leader of the Year (Lankenau Hospital), and leading the effort to earn Lankenau Medical Center’s Emergency Department a Lantern Award Designation (one of only 33 EDs who achieve this award annually). Ms. Pellegrini holds a Bachelor’s of Nursing degree from Gwynedd Mercy College, a Master’s of Science in Nursing degree from Drexel University, and is also a certified emergency nurse. She is currently working toward her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Wilmington University.

Vice President & Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Reinhardt, a board-certified cardiologist and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, joined the medical staff at Doylestown Hospital and Central Bucks Cardiology in 2007.  He has held numerous leadership roles among the hospital’s medical staff, most recently serving as president, a position he held since 2023. Dr. Reinhardt brings a wealth of clinical experience to the role of Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Reinhardt graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed his internship and residency at the New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center. His cardiology fellowship was at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School – Camden. He has been listed annually among Philadelphia Magazine’s regional “Top Docs” since 2019. 

Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Seeber first joined Doylestown Health in 2009, and was named Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2021. She is responsible for directing the fiscal policies and strategy for the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown and Controlled Entities (including Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown Health Foundation, and VIA Affiliates, dba Doylestown Health Physicians), as well as related entities (including Covered Bridge Reciprocal Risk Retention Group (CBRRRG), Doylestown Healthcare Partnership, and Doylestown Hospital Authority).  During her career of more than four decades, Ms. Seeber has demonstrated leadership and expertise in healthcare financial operations, reporting, decision support, capital planning and financing, investments, contracting, revenue cycle, patient access, budget and forecasting. Ms. Seeber is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.  In addition to serving on the Board of Trustees for the Doylestown Health Foundation, on the Advisory Committee for CBRRRG, and as a board member for Doylestown Surgery Center, Ms. Seeber is a Board member for the River Crossing YMCA (Bucks, Lehigh Valley and Hunterdon NJ Counties) and serves as Treasurer for the Hepatitis B Foundation, Blumberg Institute and Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center. Ms. Seeber is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from LaSalle University.  She is currently adjunct faculty for University of Pennsylvania’s Doctor of Nursing program as well as for Delaware Valley University’s program in Health Administration. 

Vice President, Professional and Ancillary Services

Cheryl Talamo joined Doylestown Health in 1998. During her tenure, she has served in various capacities. Her roles have included Physical Therapy Manager, Rehab Manager, Director of Rehab Services, Director of Orthopedic Institute and in 2020 became the Sr. Executive Director of Surgical Services and Orthopedic Services. She has been an agent for data driven quality improvement in all her areas. She has served on several hospital wide committees and has proven to have the ability to motivate, organize and implement change. Prior to coming to Doylestown, Cheryl was the Therapy Manager at both St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne and St. Francis Central Hospital in Pittsburgh.  She has served in various rehab consultant roles throughout her career with a primary focus on utilization reviews and rehab payment models. Cheryl received her Bachelor’s of Health Science and Master’s of Physical Therapy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science and her MBA from Delaware Valley University. She also serves as a Board Member for River Crossing YMCA -Central Bucks Regional Advisory Board.

Vice President & Chief Advancement Officer

Laura Wortman assumed the role of Vice President/Chief Advancement Officer in 2022 after first joining Doylestown Health in 2015 as Vice President/Chief Development Officer.  In her current role as VP and CAO, Ms. Wortman is responsible for leading and managing all strategic marketing, communications and philanthropic initiatives for Doylestown Health and its entities. She is responsible for sustaining a constantly evolving strategy to bolster physician, community and patient awareness and engagement while also creating a strong case for donor support. In her role, she also serves as a member of the Doylestown Health Foundation board of trustees. Ms. Wortman has an extensive career in academic medical and healthcare fundraising, having held key leadership roles at Temple University School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland Medical System Foundation. Ms. Wortman has both her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s of Science in Education degree from The University of Pennsylvania.
